Power only depends on standing programs rather than one-off loads, and Chicago has more of them than anywhere else. The Joliet and Elwood intermodal terminals, the warehouse belt around them, and the concentration of large brokers and 3PLs in the region mean drop trailer pools are genuinely available rather than something you chase.

The trade is the same as anywhere — lower rate per mile because you're not supplying the trailer, but far less time waiting at docks and far more of your hours converted into paid miles. In a market where terminal queues and city congestion eat time, that trade is worth more in Chicago than most places.

What we watch for you

• Two programs minimum. Power only work concentrates with a few large operators. If one changes its capacity plan your whole week moves, so we aim to get you approved with more than one.
• Revenue per day, not per mile. Chicago terminal wait times decide whether a load was a good day. That's the number we report to you weekly.
• Trailer condition documented. Photograph at hook and at drop, every time. We log it. This is what protects you when damage is claimed on equipment you didn't own.
• Trailer interchange verified. Confirm your policy covers the trailer before you hook. Programs set their own required limits.
• Winter slack. January and February weather wrecks schedules across the Midwest. We build transit slack rather than promising times you can't safely hit.
