Software setup

Most small carriers pay for four systems that don't talk to each other, then still track loads in a notebook. The fix is not more software.

Straight answer

What software does a small carrier actually need?

Four things: somewhere to record loads, somewhere to find them, somewhere to do the books, and an ELD. That's it. A one-truck operation does not need enterprise fleet management, and paying for it is one of the more common ways new carriers burn cash in year one.

We select the stack against your size and equipment, set it up so mileage flows into IFTA and documents flow into invoicing, and hand it over. You pay the vendors directly at their published rates — we don't resell subscriptions or take a cut, because that would bias which one we pick.

The stack

What we set up

TMS

Load records, rate confirmations, driver assignment, document storage and invoicing. Configured with your equipment, your customers and your document templates rather than left on defaults.

Included in setup

Load boards

Account setup, saved searches for your lanes, rate lookup tools and alerts configured so you're not refreshing manually. We'll tell you honestly which subscription is worth it at your volume and which isn't.

Included in setup

Accounting

Chart of accounts built for trucking — settlements, fuel, maintenance, per-diem — and connected to your TMS so invoices don't get entered twice.

Included in setup

Documents & mileage

Mobile document capture for BOL and POD, routed to the right folder automatically. ELD mileage exported in a format your IFTA return can actually use.

Included in setup

Optional

Ongoing management — $99/month

If you'd rather not touch it again: we keep the systems updated, add new customers and brokers, build the reports you ask for, fix integrations when a vendor changes their API, and train new drivers or office staff as you add them.

Why we don't resell subscriptions

If we earned a commission on the TMS we recommended, you could never be sure we recommended it because it was right for you. You buy directly from the vendor at their published price. Our fee is for the setup work and nothing else.

Answers

Software setup — questions

What software do I need to run a trucking company?

At minimum: a TMS to record loads and generate invoices, a load board subscription to find freight, accounting software with a trucking chart of accounts, and an FMCSA-registered ELD. A single-truck operation does not need enterprise fleet management software, and buying it is a common early waste of money.

Do you resell trucking software?

No. You buy subscriptions directly from the vendors at their published prices. We charge $299 for selection and setup and take no commission, because taking one would bias which product we recommend to you.

Can you connect my TMS to my accounting software?

In most cases yes, either through a native integration or a middleware connection, so invoices raised in the TMS post to accounting without re-entry. Which integrations exist depends on the products you're on, and we'll confirm before you commit to either.

How long does software setup take?

Usually three to five business days from the point we have your account access and your document templates. Load board accounts are immediate; TMS and accounting configuration is where the time goes.
