In this lesson
- Plan the chain, not the load. A load is judged by what it leaves you with: the next load, the hours left and the market you land in.
- Back-solve the weekly revenue target from fixed costs, variable cost per mile and the owner's take-home goal, then split it into a per-mile floor you can quote.
- Pick delivery cities by their outbound freight, not by the rate on the way in. A high rate into a dead market is a low rate once you count the deadhead out.
- Deadhead is a cost, not a sin. Accept it when the extra revenue beats the extra miles at your variable cost per mile, and cap it at a share of loaded miles.
- Run the same dashboard routine for every truck every morning. Empty and unbooked trucks get your first hour, every day.
